Contemporary Ikebana Containers
Contemporary Ikebana Containers
Welcome to the website featuring the ikebana vases and containers by Gordon Ward, including some arrangements.  Each ceramic piece is hand built from high fire stoneware clays and fired to 2300° F.  Many evoke forms from nature with a likeness to undersea life, seed pods, drift wood, tree bark, and stone.  Others are geometric in nature, which also create a wonderful context for floral expression, particularly Japanese flower arranging.

The intent of this website is to show a range of work with the hope you might be able to visit my S.F. Bay Area studio and show room.  Not all of the pieces on the website are available for purchase, but I have now included a group of pieces that may be ordered under the heading "for sale".  This list may change from time to time according to availability of new work.  We can now accept credit card payments through Paypal.  You do not need a Paypal account.

There is a broader variety of pieces available for purchase at our studio showroom.

Please contact me at 925 284-1257 to arrange a studio visit.

"The special quality of hand-made things is being lost in the modern world.  Only ikebana remains entirely hand-made.  Flowers - impossible to make by machine - are set by human hands into a hand-made vase." - Sofu Teshigahara, from Kadensho
